The New Education Curriculum for West Africa (WAFR) is an initiative by the United Nations’s Economic and Social Council (UNESCO). The main objectives of the WAFR are:

To help countries in Africa to develop a comprehensive and cohesive curriculum for the 21st century.

To equip teachers and students with the necessary knowledge and skills for the modern world.

To promote the development of a common framework of study for all teachers and students.

To encourage the transfer of knowledge and the exchange of ideas among learners.

To support the exchange of information and resources among schools.

To improve access to education by increasing the number of teachers and students who obtain a high-quality education.

To promote a culture of learning.
